When you are looking into which company to arrange your car insurance with what sort of things do you take into account? For many people it is possibly getting the level of cover you require at the lowest premium you can find. Other considerations may be of minor interest.
Well, whilst it is not nice when you do have to claim on your car insurance policy, surely it is important how your insurer deals with your claim. After all, it is stressful enough for a lot of people having been involved in a road traffic accident without having to worry about how well their claim may be dealt with.
Which? carried out a claims satisfaction survey earlier this year with 1,855 customers who had car insurance in which those taking part were asked to rate how quickly the insurance company came to a settlement decision following receipt of their latest claim on their motor insurance policy. It makes for interesting reading.
Apparently, 20% of those surveyed stated that their insurance company took in excess of one month in deciding how much they were prepared to pay out in respect of the claim. Rather concerning, 8% of those surveyed said that their claim had taken more than three months.
Below are the percentages for those rated in the top 10 as having come to a quick decision relating to the settlement of their policyholder’s claim: –
