Much as we all like to save money, it may not necessarily be the best thing just to go for the cheapest car insurance quote that you can find. In the first instance, the most important thing is to make sure that the cover you choose is the most suitable to meet your needs.
In that respect, you must decide a number of things such as the level of cover, the excess you are prepared to pay and whether you wish to incorporate any optional extras such as breakdown cover.
Having done that, then you can start to look at the quotes that you have got from a variety of insurance companies which you can compare on a like for like basis. What we mean by that is, if you get a quote for fully comprehensive car insurance with a compulsory excess of £200 plus a voluntary excess of £100 and cover for 12,000 miles per annum, then the quote from another company should mirror it so that you can compare the cost.
Once you have done that you may feel that you can then make a decision as to which car insurance company you wish to arrange your car insurance with. If you are merely looking for the company that provides the cheapest car insurance then your decision should be an easy one.
However, there are other factors that you may wish to take into account before making your selection. For instance, what sort of reputation do the companies you have received quotes from have when it comes to customer service? How good are their claims departments at processing claims? How much, if anything, do they charge if you wish to amend the policy part the way through the policy?
If one or more of the above things are important to you then you may wish to do some research before making your final decision.
